Gov. Uzodimma Clears Tinubu Of Blame Amid Economic Hardship Crisis

Obasempire reports that the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, absolved President Bola Tinubu of responsibility for the current economic difficulties afflicting the nation.

Governor Uzodimma asserted it would be unjust to fault the President, characterizing the severe challenges as a global issue affecting not only Nigeria.

He expressed these views during a visit to the APC secretariat in Abuja to offer condolences to the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, following the passing of his mother-in-law.

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje

Accompanying him were Governors Bassey Otu of Cross River, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.

“By the grace of God, I am very confident that very soon, Nigerians will be jubilant about how he has managed to navigate the waters.

“We have to visit the secretariat to be in touch with the leadership of the party, national chairman and members of the National Working Committee and, above all, to commiserate with him who just lost his mother-in-law; and also show solidarity with the chairman and managers of our party.”

The PGF chairman expressed optimism that the APC would wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party-led government in Edo State at the September 21 governorship election.

The governor also disclosed that some of the APC governors would also monitor the polls in Edo and Ondo states to show solidarity for their governorship candidates.

He said, “Of course you know, I am the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum. When I speak, I speak on behalf of my colleagues, the 20 governors and a party like APC that controls 20 of the 36 states. If an election is a game of numbers, it means the majority will win.

“For instance, on the 20th of this month, the national campaign council will be inaugurated in Edo State and it is expected that most of us, the members of the Progressives Governors Forum, will be in attendance. Which other party can provide or boast of such an asset, politically speaking?”

Ganduje welcomed the delegation, saying he felt honoured by their visit.

“There is no doubt that we are highly delighted when we got the information that they (governors) are coming. So, I think it is a blessing to us. We have confidence in them.

“We will do all it takes to ensure that we maintain good relationships with our governors all over the country and help to protect their interests. There is no doubt that they are also assisting the party and making us proud as an institution,” he said.

Speaker Obasa Proposes Law To Regulate Alms Begging In Lagos

Obasempire reports that Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has stated that the legislative body is contemplating enacting a law to oversee alms solicitation within the state.

Mr. Obasa made these remarks during an interview on the sidelines of the launch of the Ibile Muslim Community Zakat and Sadaqah Foundation in Lagos.

He emphasized the necessity for such legislation, highlighting the launch sponsored by Lotus Bank in Lagos.

The foundation aims to empower underprivileged Muslims and alleviate poverty through the promotion of Zakat, Sadaqah, and Waqf.

Mr. Obasa clarified that the proposed legislation would grant authority to the state government and organizations like the Ibile Muslim Community Zakat and Sadaqah Foundation to oversee aid requests.

He added that the law aims to ensure donations directly benefit those in need without resorting to street begging, citing the increasing number of beggars in Lagos as a driving factor for regulation.

“We are looking at how we can manage such situations to stop beggars from parading the streets of Lagos begging for alms.

“Following such legislation, anyone caught begging on the streets or aiding such, particularly among children, would also be sanctioned according to the law,” Mr Obasa said.

Speaking on the foundation’s launch, Mr Obasa highlighted the benefits of Zakat, which helps both payers and beneficiaries by eradicating poverty.

“It is important for anyone blessed by God to reach out to the less privileged.

“This should start from the immediate family and extend to every other member of society.

“The essence is to make everyone equal, or at least to move people from poverty and make them feel comfortable,” he added.

Responding to inquiries about the widely circulated photo of the Nigerian Army School of Islamic Studies, which sparked public debate questioning its presence within the Nigerian military, General Buba defended the rationale behind establishing the institution.

He said, “Life is spiritual and being military men does not make them less spiritually inclined.”

Furthermore, Buba said, “The military does not only have the School of Islamic Affairs; we also have the Chaplaincy School. Being military men does not make us not to be spiritually inclined.

“They say that life is spiritual. Things start from the spiritual before we see them in the physical. We in the military are also aware of that. So, we pray according to our religion, be it Christian or Islam.

“And what is the purpose of a school? It is to develop and build capacity. If you want somebody to go and preach to others, he should know what he is preaching about. He should be able to read the scriptures from one point to the other in whatever religion he practises, so that he can communicate that breakdown to the troops and build their faith.

“I believe that answers the question, why is the military operating a School of Islamic Affairs.”

The command’s spokesperson, Mr. Benjanin Hundeyin, affirmed that operatives acted based on reliable information and set up an ambush for the kidnappers, leading to a deadly exchange of gunfire on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Hundeyin mentioned that the operation, overseen by Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade, commenced a fortnight ago upon receiving intelligence indicating an imminent threat.

He added that police tactical units closely surveilled the gang and prepared to intercept them on the expected day of the assault.

According to him, during the confrontation, nine kidnappers were neutralized, while two others escaped with gunshot wounds. The police recovered a cache of weapons, including four AK-47 rifles, four locally-made semiautomatic pistols, nine AK-47 magazines, three walkie-talkies, a POS machine, and a loudspeaker, and the gang’s operational vehicles (a black Toyota 4Runner and a blue Lexus RX350) were seized.

Actress Biola Adebayo Claims Podcast Guest Admitted To Zoophilia, Alleges Faked Death

Obasempire reports that Biola Adebayo, the actress, has alleged that Adenike Adewodun, her podcast guest who confessed to zoophilia, feigned her own death.

Adenike, during a podcast, previously recounted her teenage encounter with sexual assault and her involvement in sexual activity with canines to fulfill her urges.

On June 9, Adebayo expressed shock and stated that Adenike suddenly committed suicide after the explosive podcast.

Adebayo also suggested that the criticism the guest received after the confession might have contributed to her death.

But in a fresh post, Adebayo said she discovered Adenike faked her death.

The actress recounted how her podcast team noticed inconsistencies in the narratives from the guest’s sister and friend.

Adebayo said Adenike confessed she faked her death to avoid more backlash from the public over the podcast.

“In the course of properly mourning [Adenike], we noticed some discrepancies in what her so-called sister was telling us and what her friend was saying,” the post reads in part.

“Because we felt something was amiss, we dispatched the director of the show on a fact-finding mission who spoke with the friend before he traced the hospital where she was supposed to have been treated.

“We were told there and then that she didn’t die. After this discovery, a petition was written by our attorney to the police to complain about the situation. Promptly, the police investigated and arrested both Nike and her friend.”

Adebayo said the controversial guest, however, maintained that her sexual molestation experience was true.

“The police were also set to prosecute. Upon interrogation, Nike said she freaked out because people recognised her,” she said.

“She said she said she felt that if she lied that she was dead, Biola would remove the video.

“Police asked her if she reached out to Biola to remove the video at any point and she said no. Her mother, who was there at the station, corroborated the story.

“After full consultations and deep thinking, Abiola Adebayo has decided not to prosecute but will still help with her therapy and rehabilitation.”

Federal High Court Judge Warns Kano Governor’s Spokesperson Of Potential Jail Time For Misrepresentation

Obasempire reports that Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court in Kano has issued severe caution to Sanusi Bature, the spokesperson for the Kano State Governor, admonishing him with the prospect of incarceration due to alleged distortion.

The judge pronounced this warning following his ruling on the Kano State Commission of Inquiry, which Governor Yusuf had instituted.

He directed that an Authenticated Copy of the judgment be promptly given to the Governor’s spokesperson and all media representatives present in the courtroom to prevent any misrepresentation.

Journalists present were left in suspense as the judge reproached state government officials, including Bature, for undermining court decisions with their statements.

Justice Amobeda said: “I know the Governor has immunity, but I have the liberty to jail any of his aides  for unguarded utterances against the decision of the court.”

Justice Amobeda has set a 48-hour deadline for two Kano State High Court judges, Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu and Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, to resign from their roles as Chairpersons of Governor Abba Yusuf’s judicial commissions.

The commissions were established to investigate the previous administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, focusing on misappropriation of public funds and political violence.

Since Governor Abba Yusuf assumed office on May 29, 2023, Kano State has been under intense media scrutiny due to ongoing legal disputes and political tensions between Ganduje and Yusuf, as well as other issues like the Emirate crisis.
