Akpabio, visibly angered by Bamidele’s remarks, fired back sharply.

Senator Opeyemi should sit down! He cannot speak while I am speaking. I am in charge here,” Akpabio reportedly yelled. “I have served as Commissioner, two-term Governor, Senate Minority Leader, and a powerful Minister. I know the Senate rules and leadership more than you.”

Threat against Peter Obi, threat against all of us – Atiku warns

Former vice-president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has warned that any threat against his former presidential running mate, Peter Obi, is a threat against “all of us”.

Atiku stated this in a terse tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

He simply wrote: “Let it be known that a threat against Peter Obi or any of us is a threat against ALL of us! -AA”

Atiku’s comments come days after the governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, warned Obi not to visit the state without security clearance.

Okpebholo claimed that the last time Obi visited the state and made a donation of N15 million to a nursing school in the state, there was unrest in Benin City, the state capital, leading to the death of some people.

The governor’s comments were met with outrage and criticisms.

Any plot to marginalise Peter Obi would be resisted – Obidient leader declares

Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, a prominent leader of the Obidient Movement in the south-east, says Nigerians are prepared to resist any attempt to suppress or sideline Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Ezeh said the July 19 “Day of Obidient Service”, held in honour of Obi’s 64th birthday, was more than a celebration, it was a public declaration of a collective yearning for a new Nigeria driven by integrity, justice, and compassion.

He described the nationwide commemorative events as “a great display of revulsion to primitive accumulation that has rubbished public service”, and a reflection of the people’s resolve to reject corrupt leadership.

Ezeh commended Nigerians, especially women and youths, for “creatively amplifying the philosophy of the Obidient Movement” using their own resources, calling their efforts a symbol of hope for Nigeria’s future.

He called on opposition parties, especially members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to rally around Obi ahead of the 2027 elections, likening his rise to the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

In 2027, Nigerians will elect their leaders. We have seen what happened in Senegal and recently in Ghana. Courts do not decide who leads or represents the people. If there is any tie, a rerun should be conducted. Nobody will be going to court to decide elections,” Ezeh said.

He warned of alleged plans by the ruling party to shrink the political space for Obi, citing a recent comment by Senator Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo state, as a “revelation” of broader efforts to undermine the movement. His words: “We have seen the desperation on the other side. Plans to shrink the campaign stage are currently being worked out. Nigerians should be taking notice.”

He added that any scheme to push Obi out of the race would trigger mass mobilisation.

“If mad men took over the asylum, Nigerians should be prepared to get equally mad to retrieve what is truly theirs by right and fact,” Ezeh declared.

He also referenced a remark by Benue governor, Hyacinth Alia, as an early sign of the ruling establishment’s fears, warning that “a raw awakening awaits anyone who believes removing Obi will guarantee the survival of a criminal political structure”.

ObasEmpire reports on Sunday, July 20, 2025, reported that the incident reportedly occurred on Friday morning and was initially flagged by the church’s Chief Security Officer, Esiere Ekikere.

Photo of the 41-year-old woman, Benita Lurk Ikuenobe, who was discovered dead in a suspected suicide inside the auditorium of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Prayer City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, has surfaced.

It was gathered that police officers visited the scene, documented it with photographs, and later transferred the body to the Real Divine Hospital morgue for autopsy.

When Obasemprire contacted the Ogun State Police Command, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Omolola Odutola, for comment via her mobile phone, the police spokesperson said the police have yet to establish the actual cause of Ikuenobe’s death.

It is a negative impression people are circulating around the state,” Odutola said.

The police are yet to establish her actual cause of death, and you know no family would want them or their people to be associated with such sentiment.”

If The Senate Decides To Kill Us, Let Them Kill Us’ – Aisha Yesufu Speaks On Natasha’s Resumption

Prominent socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has declared her intention to accompany Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to the National Assembly on Tuesday, insisting the embattled lawmaker has every legal right to resume her duties as the Senator representing Kogi Central.

ObasEmpire that Yesufu, who spoke during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, condemned what she described as an act of political intimidation and gender bias, warning that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s continued suspension defies a valid court ruling

I think Senator Natasha has every right to resume office, and by tomorrow, she is not going to resume alone. There are people who are going to go with her, and I’ll be one of them,” Yesufu declared.

The activist, known for her fierce stance on civic rights and justice, said Nigerians would not be intimidated into silence.

We’ll be with her and stand with her. And if the Senate decides they are going to kill us, let them kill us,” she said defiantly.

Yesufu accused the Nigerian Senate of acting in bad faith, arguing that the suspension of Senator Natasha was not only unlawful but also a reflection of deeper systemic discrimination against women in politics.

Out of 109 senators, we have only four women. Yet you go after them, you’re going after this particular lady who has done nothing other than discharge her duty the way it should be,” she said.

Describing the Senate’s action as “unconstitutional,” Yesufu maintained that the judiciary had already ruled against the suspension and that the upper chamber had no authority to override that judgment.

The court didn’t stop Natasha from going in, so she has a right to resume office. The court has ruled that the whole suspension is unconstitutional. The Senate didn’t make Natasha a senator; her people did,” she asserted.

She further alleged that the Senate’s refusal to comply with the court’s directive was a dangerous precedent that could erode confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Yesufu didn’t spare the judiciary either, accusing some judges of surrendering their integrity to political influence and undermining the justice system.

The judiciary, which should be the last hope of the common man, is now a pawn in the hands of corrupt politicians. Even when a judgement is delivered, the judiciary now looks at the body language of those dictating what should be written,” she said.
