Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has responded to the viral tweets and videos claiming her contract with Roc Nation forbids her from having a boyfriend or starting a family for five years.
She replied to a particular tweet which boldly stated:
Ayra Starr isn’t allowed to have a boyfriend or start a family during her five years contract with Roc Nation.”
While many fans expressed shock or disbelief, Ayra Starr didn’t waste time clearing the air. She simply wrote:
Does Ayra Starr know about this?”
Ayra Starr joined Roc Nation, the American entertainment agency founded by Jay-Z, in 2023. Since then, she’s continued to rise steadily on the international scene, recently becoming the youngest Nigerian female artist to perform at the BET Awards.

Nigerian gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has opened up about a deeply personal spiritual journey marked by solitude, fasting, and prayer.
The former Project Fame winner revealed that she spent 40 days in isolation, seeking divine direction and undergoing intense spiritual experiences. She described the period as one of emotional upheaval, fervent prayer, and profound internal struggle.
Chidinma disclosed that she spent her nights outdoors, expressing herself to God through music and prayer. She characterised the experience as intensely personal and noted that it brought an unprecedented awareness of God’s presence.
During her time on the mountain, the singer recounted a particularly harrowing episode in which she felt spiritually vulnerable and was confronted by a dark force.
She described standing at the edge of a cliff, urged by a compelling voice to jump. However, she said an invisible force intervened and blocked her path, ultimately preventing what could have been a fatal act.
It was more like I was in a theatre and God performed surgery on me and He shredded me. I have seen it all, and material things don’t move me anymore.
The enemy came to me to take me out of there before my time. The devil took me to the top of a cliff at night where everywhere was dark. And right there, He asked me to jump. The voice was so strong.
When I was about to jump, I noticed that I was barricaded and It was impossible to jump. Something was just there,” she said.
Chidinma’s testimony has since stirred reactions among her followers, many of whom praised her candour and spiritual resilience.

In a Facebook update on Tuesday, August 13, the artist, who embraced Islam last week, emphasized that she has no plans to abandon her musical talent.
She also mentioned that if the harassment persists, she might reconsider her new faith.
“I didn’t become a Muslim to be threatened or harassed. The Malam that recited kalimatu shahada for me, didn’t tell me I’d quit music. If he had told me, I wouldn’t convert because God gave me this talent and I so much love it,” she wrote.
